Volume of home sales in Virginia up 9.7 percent

The July volume was $4.1 billion, up 4.4 percent from the same month a year ago. The number of sales in July fell less than half a percent to 11,495. Low inventory levels continue to hamper sales and drive prices upward, according to the report.

The median statewide sales price in July, with half the houses selling for more and half for less, was $295,000, up 6 percent from the same month a year ago. The average number of days on the market remained low at 50 days, down from 60 days in July 2016.
